Is Retinol right for you?  What you need to know.  -By Nitsa Paddison

I’m going to go ahead and guess that you have heard about retinol. But do you really know what retinol does? Do you know why you’re supposed to use it?

As we age our skin ages, collagen and elastin fibres start to decline as young as 20 years old. This leads to fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, etc.

Most topical ingredients don’t penetrate to the dermis layer, with the exception of retinol.

Retinol stimulates cell turnover, reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne, plumps up your skin  and promotes a firmer skin texture, and can also lighten pigmentation.

When starting with some types of retinol, it can be a “worse-before-better” type of situation. Typical side effects include a bit of redness, dry or flaky skin, but rest assured it really is worth it. Your skin will adjust while the retinol works deep within to increase collagen and elastin, renew and revitalise and you'll be looking great really soon!

Some companies advertise that you will see results in as little as a few weeks, but it will take at least 12 weeks of continued daily use to see results.

Best results will be seen in 12 months because with Retinol we’re not just talking about results at a topical level, we’re talking about results at a cellular level. Real results that will make a real difference to the tone, texture and quality of your skin.

Retinol truly is the key to younger looking skin!
